Weight Loss Goals.
While you are enthusiastic about your weight loss goals, it is important to be realistic and make an achievable plan that will deliver the results you want.
Take a stepping stone approach
Setting a big goal in a small time frame can lead to disappointment. Our advice is to take a stepping stone approach to lose 5 to 10% of your body weight. Rather than focus on one major overall weight loss goal, set your sights on achieving consistent weight loss each month. Set your initial goal to lose just 5% of your current weight. With your first goal achieved, reset your target by aiming for a 10% weight loss.
For example:
If your starting weight is 90kg, aim for an initial 5% weight loss as follows:
- 5% of 90 kg = 4.5 kg
- 90kg – 4.5kg = 85.5 kg, This makes your first weight loss goal 85.5kg.
For your next stepping stone goal, increase your weight loss to 10% of your original weight e.g.:
- 10% of 90 kg = 9 kg
- 90 kg – 9 kg = 81 kg
When choosing your target weight, it is important to remember that any weight loss you achieve will provide you with health benefits.
